Teeming Masses

Just a quick blog from yesterday to be finished later.  We're up at 5:30 am for a trip to SuZhou. Yesterday, we arrived in Shanghai and watched as the ship came up the river in the early morning.  After a quick breakfast, we had our first 'diplomatic briefing' with two members from the consuls office.  They told us about Shanghai and what we were likely to encounter.  This is a pretty safe port, and we will be confronted by teeming masses of people who are celebrating the Chinese New Year.  The population of Shanghia is over 18 million people, and they were all out.

Our little addition of 600 kids was a drop in the bucket.

This guy cooked my dumpling lunch (more about that later).

Then we spent a lot of time in the old section and toured the Yu Gardens

And back to the ship to view the lights.

  1. Even though you said it was a rushed blog entry...still really appreciated the time you took to do it; so informative!
